If you have an account on this site, or have left comments on blog posts, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Using the website
Data tracking by Google
We use Google Analytics to track user interactions on. Our Google Analytics account collects:
- Client ID – to distinguish between new visitors and repeat visitors
- Geolocation – which tells us the region and country of the visitors
- Technology – which tells us the devices, operating systems and browsers being used
Personal data is not collected for website analytics. Demographic data is not collected either (eg. gender or age). Google Analytics Advertising Features are not enabled meaning that data is not shared with Google Adwords for re-advertising purposes.
Data tracking by Facebook
Our website uses a Facebook cookie which tracks user behaviour and helps Facebook understand our audience for the purposes of marketing.
Reading and interacting with page content
Leaving comments
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
If you register for a user account, we store the personal information you provide in your user profile. You can see, edit, or delete your personal information at any time (except you cannot change your username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
Cookies
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year or until you delete cookies from your browser.
If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos via YouTube). This content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Booking an appointment
When you book an appointment for the Pro Bono clinic using this website, or our Facebook page, we only ask that you provide a name for the purposes of booking the appointment, and an email address to confirm the appointment and send you details on how to connect.
We store contact information securely, and you can make a deletion request at any time.
If you become a client, we will provide terms and conditions including a data policy detailing how we collect, store and use sensitive personally identifiable information.
Additional information
- We do not receive any data from third parties, nor pass on any data to third parties.
- No automated decision making is done with any data collected from the website.
- We do all we can to protect any data passed to us from you via our website, eg your email address if you use an appointment booking facility.
- In the unlikely event of a data breach, we will notify anyone affected, detailing action steps protect yourself against malevolent use of the data.
- This policy will be revised regularly as our business evolves.
